The Real Meaning of Christmas

Although we celebrate Christmas with Santa Claus, and presents, and caroling, and Christmas trees, and bright decorations, there is much more behind Christmas. The true meaning of Christmas goes back 2000 years to when Jesus was born. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Here is the story as told in the book of Luke:

And she brought forth her first born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them,

"Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger."

As you celebrate Christmas this year, remember, it's not just about presents, Santa Claus and seasonal music; but it's a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ who came to save you from your sins so that you might spend eternity in heaven with Him.
